The Story
Bikavér — 'Bull's Blood' — is Hungary's most legendary wine style, with a history stretching back to the 16th century, when the defenders of Eger Castle were said to have drunk it before repelling the Ottoman army. Péter Vida's Szekszárdi Bikavér is a modern masterpiece of this ancient tradition: a complex, multi-variety blend that captures the robust, spicy character of Szekszárd's traditional reds while achieving a refinement that sets it apart from its predecessors.
