The 'Evangelista' — meaning 'Evangelist' — is IKON's most celebrated wine, a 100% Cabernet Franc that has become a benchmark for the South Balaton region. The volcanic soils of Balatonboglár, combined with the moderating influence of Lake Balaton's cool breezes, create ideal conditions for Cabernet Franc of extraordinary depth and complexity. This is not the herbaceous, green-pepper style of lesser examples — this is Cabernet Franc at its most powerful and complete.
Winery History
IKON Winery operates on the southern shores of Lake Balaton, where the lake's moderating influence and volcanic soils create ideal conditions for bold, structured reds. The 'Evangelista' Cabernet Franc has become a benchmark wine for the South Balaton region.
Appearance: Deep ruby-purple, almost opaque, with excellent depth.
Nose: Bold and complex — dark fruit (blackberry, black cherry), eucalyptus, dark chocolate, coffee, and fine spice, with a distinctive volcanic mineral quality.
Palate: Full-bodied and powerful with concentrated dark fruit, firm tannins, and a distinctive spicy, mineral character. Varietally pure and deeply expressive.
Finish: Long, warming, and complex — a finish of dark fruit, spice, and volcanic mineral that persists for minutes.
