The Story
The 6 Puttonyos is the most concentrated and complex expression of Tokaji Aszú — six baskets of hand-selected botrytised berries per 136 litres of base wine, creating a wine of almost overwhelming richness and complexity. Only produced in the finest vintages, when the noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) develops perfectly on the Furmint and Hárslevelű grapes, the 6 Puttonyos is a wine for special occasions and serious collectors. The 2017 vintage, from a year of exceptional botrytis development, is considered one of the finest in recent memory.
Winery History
Château Dereszla is one of Tokaj's most prestigious estates, located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region. The château's cellars, carved deep into volcanic tuff, maintain perfect conditions for the slow aging of Aszú wines.
Appearance: Deep amber-gold with mahogany highlights — the colour of aged honey.
Nose: Extraordinarily complex — dried apricot, orange marmalade, roasted hazelnuts, toffee, beeswax, and a profound mineral depth from decades of volcanic terroir.
Palate: Intensely sweet and richly concentrated, yet perfectly balanced by razor-sharp acidity. Layer upon layer of dried fruit, caramel, nuts, and spice, with a texture like liquid velvet.
Finish: The finish is almost eternal — a complex, evolving wave of sweetness, acidity, and mineral that can last for several minutes.
