The soul of Villány in a single bottle

HK$195.00

The Story

Named after the Bock Hotel Ermitage — the family's four-star hotel and restaurant — this cuvée represents the pinnacle of József Bock's winemaking philosophy. Sourced from the finest plots of the family's 80-hectare estate, including the legendary Ördögárok and Jammertál vineyards, Ermitage is a wine of serious intent. It has been poured at Hungary's finest restaurants and Michelin-starred establishments since its first vintage.

Winery History

The Bock family has been growing vines in Villány since 1850. József Bock, born in 1948, was named Hungary's Winemaker of the Year in 1997. His 1991 Bock Cuvée won the Champion Prize at the Vinagora International Wine Competition in 1994, launching the family to national prominence. Today, the estate produces over one million bottles annually from 80 owned hectares and 70 integrated hectares. Villány shares the same latitude as Bordeaux, earning it the nickname 'the Hungarian Bordeaux'.

Appearance: Deep garnet with ruby highlights, excellent depth of colour.

Nose: Rich and complex — ripe black cherry, cassis, plum, and dark chocolate, with notes of cedar, vanilla, and subtle tobacco from careful oak aging.

Palate: Full-bodied and structured with firm but polished tannins. Concentrated dark fruit — blackberry, black plum — with layers of spice, coffee, and fine mineral complexity.

Finish: Exceptionally long and warming, with a persistent finish of dark fruit, spice, and elegant oak.
