Apatsagi Pannonhalmi Tricollis Red
"Contemplative depth from Hungary's most sacred vineyard"
HK$135.00
The Story
The Tricollis Red is the Abbey's most ambitious wine — a Cabernet Franc-led blend that channels the meditative spirit of monastic life into a wine of extraordinary depth and complexity. Sourced from the Abbey's best vineyard plots on white and red clay soils, the wine undergoes careful barrel aging that adds structure without overwhelming the fruit. It is a wine that rewards patience — much like the monks who craft it.
Winery History
The Benedictine Archabbey of Pannonhalma was founded in 996 AD and is one of Hungary's oldest and most sacred institutions, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Winemaking has been central to monastic life here for over 1,000 years. After Communist-era confiscation, the Abbey revived its viticultural tradition in the 1990s, opening its modern winery to visitors in 2004.
Appearance: Deep ruby with violet highlights, excellent clarity.
Nose: Complex and inviting — dark cherry, blackcurrant, violet, and cedar, with subtle notes of dark chocolate and earthy minerality.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied with silky tannins. Red and black fruit — cherry, plum, blackberry — with elegant spice, fine oak integration, and a mineral backbone.
Finish: Long, refined, and harmonious — a finish that lingers with dark fruit and subtle tobacco notes.
